The Improvements I need to make
This is a image I took of a wonderful cat name Shadow ID# 69779. His picture I took is step up from the picture he has on the website but there are some things I could improve with my image. For example even though his face is the focus of the image, he isn't in focus. The image in a little blurry and the background is more clear than he is. I could work on making sure I have my camera completely focused when I am shooting the animals. I do think I did a good job of brightening his eyes and playing up his catch lights in his eyes, but I do think I could have brightened his ears up some more using the dodge tool. I could have also added more of a vignette on the edges so you can focus more on his face. I think I did a good job of catch him looking directly at me. Overall I think I did a good job with my image but there are some improvements I could make and I will keep working on what needs to be improved with my images and my blog.
Kayley, as we all know by now it can be very difficult to get a even decent picture of the animals. Many of them are more interested in being loved on than having their picture taken. I agree that you did a good job getting shadow to look right at you, sometimes that is half the battle.I do see that you brightened his eyes and played up the catch lights. I also agree that background is in focus while shadow is blurry. I'm sure many of us have pictures just like this one, I know I do!
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job at capturing the lights in the eyes, but I agree with you and think the blurriness is what makes the picture not as good as others. It can be hard to get a good picture of the more active animals, they just want to be loved without a camera in their face. But great job dodging the eyes and getting the cat to look at you.
ReplyDeleteKayley, I think this is a wonderful picture. Great Job. I think that as you said there needs to be improvements to be made. It is a tad blurry and a little to o close. I think the the eyes are what caught my attention the most. Shadow wants attention and it doesn't help that he is all over the place when you are trying to capture that one perfect shop. Overall nice job and keep up the good work.!
ReplyDeleteKayley, I've had the pleasure of meeting and playing with Shadow. You did a fantastic job getting up close and personal, but staying focus is the key. That is hard to do because they move so much. I would recommend you go with a buddy so someone can help you by holding the cat. I usually go by myself. Some cats let me take their photos first and then we play, others tell me we need to play before they will let me photograph them. It's important to be flexible if you're by yourself. Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your suggestion! I will defiantly get help next time from a buddy!
DeleteYes, I agree with all the comments. Your Photoshop corrections are dead on, but the image itself needs to be better focused. Good job exposing the black cat though. Black creatures are tough to get right!
